Hosting a Player Night

Benefits of Hosting
- Your team does not need to travel
- You can encourage more of your students to watch
- You can use the opportunity to fundraise for Theatresports™ at your school … we suggest you charge $2 entry, and run a tuckshop
Cost of Hosting
- There is no real cost to hosting apart from your time. Your team still pays the normal entry fee, but you had the added bonus of being able to make money off a tuckshop or door charge
What a Host needs to do
- Provide a venue such as a large drama room or a school hall for the event
- Give TYP staff and participating students and their staff members access to the venue from 6.15pm
- Provide a backstage type room where students can leave their belongings and where the tutors can run over the night with the students
- Let the TYP office know exactly where the night will be held and where parking is available
- It would be appreciated if you could provide water for the students/staff as stage work can get quite thirsty!
- Help lock up the venue and ensure we leave it in the condition you would like it left in
- Set up 16 seats on stage for the players, sometimes if the audience will be small the players sit in the audience
- Set up a table with two chairs for the TYP staff
- Set up a piano/keyboard for our muso. If your school does not have one, let us know and we will try and get one ourselves, though it would be helpful if you could provide an extension chord
