Eli Matthewson
Eli has been a professional improvisor since 2006, originally as member of the Christchurch Court Jesters but has now joined the ranks of ConArtists in Auckland.
Since moving to Auckland in 2010 he has performed with ConArtists in Bite Me, Fangprov, Sex Lies and Improvise and Comedy Gladiators. Deemed “one to watch” by theatreview.org.nz, Eli has represented both Auckland and Christchurch at the NZ Improv Festival and has performed in schools, theatres and bars across the country.
As well as improvising, Eli also busies himself with writing, acting and stand-up comedy. Highlights include playing Benjamin Braddock in the stage production of ‘The Graduate’ and Puck in ‘A Midsummer Níght’s Dream’. He was a national finalist in the 2011 Comedy Rawquest and won ‘Best Comedy’ in the Auckland Fringe for his show ‘Square Eye Pair’.
As a tutor, Eli has taught improvisation, Theatresports and drama to students of all ages. He always relishes the opportunity to share the joy of improv.
